Looking for help researching and or other witnesses to UFO encounter that happened in Fall of 1975. My father has told the story many to me many times. A big frustrations is that there is nothing online. No reports from forums or old newspaper clippings. He and friend (both in the Navy) had left the USS Nimitz and were driving into VA Beach for some R&R. This was on old Rt. 44., now rt 264. As they approached the first toll booth (just past Mt Trashmore), off to the left, he and his friend saw what, at first, looked like a ladder on fire in the sky above a string of power lines. They quickly realized they were looking at a massive craft. The “fire” was a ring of red lights in the center of two “saucers”. The craft went from vertical to horizontal and start moving east toward the beach (same direction they were driving). He says they watched it for nearly 10 minutes as it slowly gained altitude and moved off into the distance. It was at least 100ft long. Other cars were pulled off the road and people were, as you would imagine, rubber necking and watching this unbelievable event. “There’s no way we were the only people who saw it”.

My father is convinced something compelled them NOT to report it. When they got their destination they briefly discussed what to do and decided there was nothing they could/should do. So they didn’t...and apparently never spoke of it again.

I’m putting this out into the world to see if anyone reading was there. Or if you experienced folks know where else to look for information/reports. Thanks for the help. If you have questions I can ask him.
